TRANSTIRA Expands Its International Fleet

Lithuanian logistics and transportation company TRANSTIRA has signed a large-scale agreement with Mercedes-Benz Trucks for the delivery of more than 500 Actros L ProCabin long-haul tractors. The new trucks will be delivered throughout 2026 and will be used for international long-distance freight transportation across Europe.

The order has become one of the largest for Mercedes-Benz Trucks in the Baltic region in recent years and highlights the increasing competition among European logistics operators seeking to modernize their fleets amid growing freight volumes and stricter efficiency requirements.

Why TRANSTIRA Chose the Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin

A key factor behind the selection of the new-generation Actros L ProCabin was operational cost efficiency. For major transportation companies, fuel consumption, maintenance expenses, and predictable operating costs remain critically important when upgrading their fleets.

According to Paulius Kraučiūnas, Head of Truck Sales at Veho Lithuania, predictable total cost of ownership was one of the main reasons behind the agreement. Driver comfort also played an important role, as the European freight transport market continues to face a shortage of qualified personnel.

Modern ProCabin cabins are designed to improve driver comfort during long-haul operations. Enhanced aerodynamics, optimized interior space, and advanced driver assistance systems help reduce workload during international long-distance transport operations.

A New Stage of Development for TRANSTIRA

TRANSTIRA was founded in 1993 and initially specialized in freight transportation between Italy and the Baltic states. Over time, the operator significantly expanded its geographical coverage and now operates in 47 European countries.

Over the past several years, the company has demonstrated steady growth. While the fleet consisted of approximately 1,100 vehicles in 2022, the figure increased to 1,250 units in 2023. By 2025, the number of trucks had approached 1,500 vehicles, while the workforce exceeded 2,300 employees.

The large-scale order for Mercedes-Benz Actros L ProCabin trucks is expected not only to support further business expansion but also to accelerate the renewal of the company’s existing fleet.

The European Freight Market Is Changing

TRANSTIRA’s decision reflects a broader trend in the European freight transportation market. Transport companies are increasingly investing in modern tractors featuring improved aerodynamics, fuel-efficient engines, and digital fleet management systems.

Rising fuel prices, stricter European Union environmental regulations, and intense market competition are forcing carriers to focus more closely on operational efficiency. Against this backdrop, new-generation long-haul trucks are becoming a strategic tool for reducing costs.

Mercedes-Benz Trucks continues to expand its long-distance vehicle lineup, focusing on lower fuel consumption, improved safety, and better working conditions for drivers. These factors are now becoming decisive for major international transport operators.

Driver Comfort Becomes a Top Priority

One of the most noticeable changes in the industry is the growing focus on driver working conditions. European carriers increasingly view cabin comfort as a crucial element of their personnel strategy.

Modern long-haul trucks are effectively turning into mobile workspaces where drivers spend a significant portion of their time. As a result, manufacturers are paying special attention to sound insulation, ergonomics, climate control systems, and digital driver assistance technologies.

Amid ongoing labor shortages, transport companies are forced to compete not only through salary levels but also through the quality of the equipment provided to employees. This is why driver comfort has become a major factor in decisions involving multimillion-euro fleet investments.

The Importance of the Deal for Mercedes-Benz Trucks

The major order from TRANSTIRA strengthens Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ position in the international freight transportation market of Eastern and Central Europe. For the German manufacturer, contracts of this scale serve as strong confirmation of demand for the new generation of long-haul tractors.

In addition, the deal demonstrates the continuing growth of the logistics sector in the Baltic states, which play an important role in the European transportation system thanks to their geographical location and well-developed international freight infrastructure.

Experts believe that in the coming years, major carriers will continue accelerating fleet modernization, paying particular attention to fuel efficiency, digitalization, and driver comfort. Against this backdrop, demand for modern long-haul trucks in Europe is expected to remain consistently strong.
