Amid growing pressure from China, Taiwan has demonstrated its ability to return combat aircraft to service within minutes. The military exercise has become one of the island’s largest rehearsals for a potential armed conflict.
Taiwan’s annual Han Kuang military drills are currently underway, focusing on strengthening the country’s readiness for a possible conflict with China. One of the key demonstrations featured the rapid rearming and redeployment of French-made Mirage 2000 fighter jets, equipped with Magic II and MICA air-to-air missiles immediately after completing combat missions.
The military also practiced emergency runway repairs, showing how damaged airfields could be restored within hours following missile strikes, allowing aircraft to resume operations as quickly as possible.
The drills come amid increasing military pressure from Beijing, whose aircraft regularly operate near Taiwan. In addition to air force readiness, Taiwanese troops are rehearsing the defense of strategic bridges, airports, and other critical infrastructure, simulating scenarios that could arise during a large-scale military confrontation with China.
