On August 26, the Nepal Tourism Board reported that 384 tourists, including 291 foreign nationals, were missing after sudden flooding hit the northern district of Rasuwa.
According to Xinhua, the missing foreign nationals include citizens of India, Australia, the Netherlands, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, South Africa and other countries.
The flooding struck Rasuwa amid a rapid rise in water levels and also affected the Bhote Koshi River. According to police, the death toll from the flooding had reached 22 by the morning of August 26.
The scale of the disaster is particularly serious for the tourist region. Located in northern Nepal, Rasuwa attracts travelers with its mountain trails and natural attractions. The sudden onset of the flooding has significantly complicated the situation and search efforts.
