Authorities in Nepal continue to deal with the aftermath of the devastating flooding along the Bhote Koshi River. Police reported that the bodies of 72 victims have been recovered, while 41 injured people remain hospitalized
The death toll from the flash flood along Nepal’s Bhote Koshi River has reached 72. Another 41 people injured in the disaster are currently receiving treatment in hospitals, police said.
According to Xinhua, the Rasuwa district was among the areas hardest hit by the disaster. Rescuers and soldiers continue to clear debris and search for people in the affected areas.
The flood carried large amounts of debris and caused serious damage to buildings and infrastructure. Local residents are meanwhile searching through the destruction for their belongings.
Rescue operations are ongoing. Police are working to verify information about those killed and injured, while authorities assess the full extent of the damage caused by the disaster.
The flooding is one of the most serious incidents to hit the region in recent days. Earlier reports said hundreds of tourists had gone missing after the disaster struck northern Nepal.
