China and Brazil intend to take their bilateral cooperation to a new level. During the call, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration both bilaterally and through international organizations.
Xi Jinping noted that the partnership between the two countries has already produced significant results. Bilateral trade continues to grow, coordination on global issues has strengthened, and cooperation between Beijing and Brasília contributes to stability amid an increasingly uncertain international environment. He also stressed that China supports Brazil in safeguarding its sovereignty and is committed to deepening strategic coordination.
The leaders placed particular emphasis on cooperation within BRICS. Beijing and Brasília agreed to further promote reforms of global governance, strengthen cooperation among Global South countries, and support a multilateral approach to addressing international challenges.
For his part, Lula stated that Brazil is interested in expanding cooperation with China, particularly in the fields of artificial intelligence, energy, mineral resources, and high technology. He also welcomed greater participation by Chinese companies in investment projects in Brazil and praised the successful hosting of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, highlighting the importance of open international cooperation in the field of AI.
