On August 13, the Chinese cruise liner Adora Magic City embarked on its first international route, departing from Shenzhen for Vietnam. Approximately 4,500 passengers are on board. The voyage marks an important milestone in the development of cruise tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

After four nights at sea, passengers are expected to arrive at Hue Port in Vietnam. For Adora Magic City, this is the first cruise departing from the Greater Bay Area. Previously, the vessel operated mainly on domestic routes, but it is now expanding its network to destinations across Asia.

The vessel’s origin makes the voyage particularly significant. Adora Magic City is the first large cruise liner built in China, marking a major achievement for the country’s shipbuilding industry.

China sets its sights on Asian cruise routes

The first international voyage is only the beginning of a new cruise season. The Shenzhen cruise program will run until September 16 and include several routes with stops in Vietnam and South Korea.

At the end of August, the liner is scheduled to embark on longer cruises. The itineraries will include Kota Kinabalu in Malaysia, Muara in Brunei and Nha Trang in Vietnam.

In this way, the Chinese liner is gradually becoming more than just a symbol of the country’s shipbuilding capabilities. It is emerging as a serious player in the regional cruise market, connecting Chinese ports with popular destinations across Southeast and East Asia.
