According to data released by Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee, air transport operators handled 24,300 tonnes of cargo between January and March 2026. This represents an increase of 10,400 tonnes compared to the same period in 2025, equivalent to a 66.1% year-on-year growth rate.

The figures highlight the ongoing expansion of Uzbekistan’s air logistics sector and growing demand for air freight services on both regional and international routes. Industry experts note that air transport is becoming increasingly important for high-value goods, e-commerce shipments, pharmaceuticals, and time-sensitive cargo.

Passenger Traffic Continues to Grow

Alongside cargo growth, passenger transportation also showed positive results. During the first three months of 2026, Uzbekistan’s airlines carried 2.3 million passengers, up from 2.1 million during the same period a year earlier. This represents a 4.7% increase in passenger traffic.

The growth has been supported by the continued expansion of international air connections, the development of domestic routes, and increasing tourism and business travel throughout Central Asia.

For comparison, Uzbekistan’s aviation sector handled approximately 9.7 million passengers and 205,200 tonnes of cargo during the whole of 2025. Based on the first-quarter results, industry observers expect further growth throughout 2026.

Investments in airport modernization, aviation infrastructure, and route network expansion continue to strengthen Uzbekistan’s position as an important transport and logistics hub connecting Europe and Asia.
