The Mexican capital is actively modernizing its public transportation system ahead of the tournament. One of the key suppliers of the new vehicles is Yutong Bus, which is providing the majority of the environmentally friendly buses being introduced to the city.
To serve both local residents and the expected influx of football fans, authorities have purchased 800 new energy buses. More than 95% of the vehicles were manufactured in China, with approximately 85% supplied by Yutong.
As part of the modernization program, 12 fully electric nine-meter buses and 19 modern trolleybuses will be deployed on city routes. Particular attention is being drawn to Yutong’s 26-meter articulated electric buses, unofficially known as “ground trains”. Each vehicle can carry up to 270 passengers per trip, equivalent to the capacity of three standard buses.
The transport upgrade is expected to improve passenger comfort, reduce harmful emissions, and strengthen the city’s infrastructure ahead of welcoming visitors from around the world.
