Xi Jinping’s visit to Kyrgyzstan has taken bilateral relations to a new level, with Beijing and Bishkek signing more than 30 cooperation documents, including a treaty on perpetual good-neighborliness.
Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Kyrgyzstan marked an important step in the development of relations between the two countries. Following the talks, Beijing and Bishkek agreed to expand cooperation across several key areas, from trade and transport to the digital economy and clean energy.
According to CGTN, the two sides signed more than 30 cooperation documents covering trade, science, transport, technology, education, culture and people-to-people exchanges.
The main political outcome was the signing of a treaty on perpetual good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation. According to China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the document legally formalizes the two countries’ commitment to long-term friendship and takes their political mutual trust to a new level.
The two sides also placed particular emphasis on economic cooperation. China and Kyrgyzstan intend to deepen collaboration under the Belt and Road Initiative, expand trade and investment, develop transport infrastructure and pursue joint projects involving green and environmentally friendly minerals.
One of the most ambitious projects is the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Xi Jinping called for high-quality construction of the railway, describing the future route as an important transport artery for the entire region.
In addition to traditional areas of cooperation, the two countries plan to expand collaboration in the digital economy, clean energy and artificial intelligence.
Overall, Bishkek and Beijing aim to transform their long-standing good-neighborly relations into a broader economic and infrastructure partnership, further strengthening China’s ties with Central Asia.
