China is aiming to take its basic education system to an entirely new level. Xi Jinping stated that the country’s key objective is to cultivate a younger generation with strong moral values, modern knowledge, and well-rounded abilities capable of driving China’s long-term development.
According to the Chinese leader, basic education has been a national policy priority since 2012, while the reforms implemented over the past decade have laid a solid foundation for transforming China into a global leader in education. Going forward, the focus will be on improving teaching quality, promoting students’ physical and mental well-being, strengthening the professional development of teachers, and ensuring a more efficient allocation of educational resources.
Xi made these remarks during a national conference on basic education held in Beijing, where officials also discussed the next steps in modernizing the country’s education system.
