Enilive Truck Point Opens on the A8

A new Enilive Truck Point has started operating in St. Marienkirchen bei Schärding in Upper Austria. The facility is located directly on the A8 (E56) Innkreis motorway at the Schärding-Suben exit and provides 74 dedicated parking spaces for trucks.

According to Enilive, it is the first heavy-truck parking area in Austria to obtain Gold certification under the European Safe & Secure Truck Parking Areas, or SSTPA, standard.

Its location is particularly important for international road freight. The A8 forms part of a major transport route between Austria and Germany, carrying freight toward Wels, Linz, Bavaria and other European regions.

Entire Site Is Under Video Surveillance

The Enilive Truck Point includes security infrastructure designed to meet SSTPA Gold requirements.

The entire parking area is illuminated and monitored by video surveillance. Entry and exit are controlled, while access for trucks is managed through dedicated security systems.

These measures are intended to reduce the risk of cargo and fuel theft, vehicle damage and unauthorized access.

The EU SSTPA framework establishes common requirements for security and services at truck parking areas. The certification system includes Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum security levels.

Showers, Wi-Fi and Laundry Facilities for Drivers

In addition to security measures, the facility has been designed to improve conditions for professional drivers during stops and rest periods.

The site provides toilets and showers as well as washing machines and dryers. A dedicated lounge offers free Wi-Fi.

Electrical connections are available for refrigerated trucks, allowing refrigeration equipment to remain powered during longer stops without continuously running the vehicle’s engine.

The site also includes a shop and an Enilive Café. According to the company, hot meals are available around the clock.

Parking Spaces Can Be Reserved Online

Drivers and transport companies can reserve a parking space before arriving.

Enilive works with TRAVIS Road Services and Bosch Road Services to provide online booking. Advance reservations allow operators to include a secured parking location when planning an international freight journey.

This is particularly important on heavily used transit corridors, where shortages of safe truck parking remain a major issue for European road transport.

EU Supports Upgrade of Five Truck Parking Areas

The St. Marienkirchen facility forms part of the broader Enilive STEP Areas project.

Following the award of European funding, Enilive is upgrading five existing parking facilities across Austria, Germany and Italy. The sites are being developed to meet the requirements of the EU SSTPA Gold standard.

The initiative, project number 101233155, is titled “24-EU-TG-Enilive STEP Areas” and is co-financed through the Connecting Europe Facility, which supports the development of the Trans-European Transport Network, or TEN-T.

The Austrian Truck Point is located along the Rhine-Danube Corridor. The motorway section between Wels and the Suben border crossing is one of the main road freight links between Austria and Germany.

Expanding secure parking infrastructure along these corridors is intended to make international route planning more predictable, improve drivers’ rest conditions and strengthen cargo security during stops.
