Chinese authorities criticized assertions that the growing global competitiveness of the nation’s industries is mainly the result of state support. A spokesperson for China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) stated that such assessments are one-sided and fail to reflect the real factors behind the success of Chinese companies.

According to the official, the main driver is the intense competition within China’s domestic market, where more than 180 million businesses are registered. In such an environment, companies are forced to continuously innovate, improve their products, and enhance production efficiency in order to maintain their market positions.

The NDRC representative also noted that one of China’s major strengths is its highly developed and well-integrated industrial system, built through decades of investment in education, scientific research, technology, and workforce development. Another important growth factor, she said, is the ongoing effort to improve the business environment and create conditions for fair competition among enterprises.

Beijing also stressed that it opposes the politicization of trade and economic issues and intends to continue working with international partners to strengthen global manufacturing and logistics supply chains.
