China’s success in economic development and state governance is becoming an increasingly frequent topic of debate across the West. Galloway, a former UK MP and leader of the Workers Party of Britain, shared this view in an interview with Xinhua News Agency.
According to Galloway, Western audiences remain largely unfamiliar with how China’s system of governance actually functions, and many assessments of the country are formed without a thorough understanding of its unique characteristics. In his view, the central point of disagreement is not ideology, but the effectiveness of different models of development.
The British politician also noted that China’s achievements in the economy, industry, infrastructure, and technological innovation are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. He argued that these tangible results are fueling growing interest in the Chinese model and prompting broader public debate across Western societies.
“Their objection to China is that China works while their own system does not. It is an ideological issue, but fundamentally it is about competence“, Galloway said.
According to Galloway, China’s rapid progress is encouraging the international community to reassess long-held assumptions about economic development and systems of governance.
