The order covers four 29,000 dwt chemical tankers, with deliveries scheduled for 2029. Once completed, the contract will bring MAC Shipping’s total chemical tanker newbuilding program to eight vessels.
In late 2024, MAC Shipping entered the newbuilding market for the first time by ordering up to four 25,900 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers from Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry. According to shipbrokers, each vessel was valued at approximately $50 million, with the first deliveries expected in 2026.
The company’s current fleet includes the chemical and oil tankers Mac London and Mac Tokyo, both built to IMO II/III standards for transporting petroleum products and chemical cargoes. Two other vessels, Mac Jakarta and Mac Singapore, have since been sold.
MAC Shipping, part of MAC Ship Holding, specializes in the transportation of liquid cargoes, including chemicals, biofuels, and other environmentally friendly fuels. The company initially operated dry bulk vessels before shifting its focus to the chemical tanker segment in 2022. In 2023, it established its own in-house ship management system.
