SeaBird Exploration, a subsidiary of SED Energy Holdings specializing in offshore seismic services, has been awarded a new contract to perform a two-dimensional (2D) seismic survey offshore India.
The project will be executed by the dedicated survey vessel Eagle Explorer. According to the project schedule, vessel mobilization will begin in mid-July 2026, after which survey operations will commence. The campaign is expected to continue through the first half of 2027.
The new contract further strengthens SeaBird’s position in the Indian market and expands the company’s participation in regional hydrocarbon exploration projects. India continues to advance its geological exploration programs, placing particular emphasis on enhancing energy security and identifying new resource prospects.
SeaBird CEO Finn Atle Hamre stated that the contract reflects the sustained demand for high-quality 2D seismic data. According to him, interest in such surveys is being driven by the growing need for resource exploration and the pursuit of long-term energy security across the region.
