China’s largest DRAM manufacturer, ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT), is preparing to go public on the STAR Market of the Shanghai Stock Exchange. The company aims to raise approximately 57.9 billion yuan (US$8.55 billion), making it potentially the largest IPO in Asia in 2026 and the biggest public offering in the history of China’s semiconductor industry.

According to industry experts, CXMT’s listing represents a major milestone for China’s memory chip sector. The funds raised will be invested in expanding DRAM manufacturing capacity, developing next-generation high-speed memory, advancing automotive memory solutions, and upgrading production facilities.

Analysts believe the investment will enable CXMT to narrow the gap with global industry leaders Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron, which currently dominate the DRAM market. As demand for chips continues to surge due to the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, data centers, and cloud computing, the IPO is expected to strengthen China’s position in the global semiconductor industry, accelerate the development of advanced domestic technologies, and enhance the resilience of the country’s semiconductor supply chain.
