The order comprises three firm vessels, each with a capacity of 930 TEU, with options for an additional three ships of the same type. Delivery of the vessels is scheduled for 2028. The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

The newbuilding program is expected to further strengthen Emarat Maritime’s position in the container shipping segment. While the company has traditionally been known as an owner of tanker and dry bulk vessels, it has increasingly diversified its business in recent years by expanding its container fleet.

According to shipbroker Braemar, the decision to order newbuildings followed several years of evaluating opportunities in the second-hand vessel market.

Emarat Maritime currently operates a fleet of 19 vessels, including LR1 and LR2 tankers, Supramax and Ultramax bulk carriers, as well as container ships. The company continues to pursue its fleet renewal strategy, aiming to expand its presence across multiple segments of the global shipping industry.
