China Advocates AI Development for the Benefit of Humanity
China has called for the development of artificial intelligence as an open, accessible, and human-centered technology. According to Chinese experts, the future of AI will depend not only on the pace of technological innovation but also on how effectively governments can ensure that these technologies remain safe, widely accessible, and beneficial to society.
China Bets on Open Technologies
At the core of China’s strategy is the development of open-source AI ecosystems, expanded international cooperation, and broader access to advanced AI solutions. A notable example is Kimi K3, unveiled at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC 2026), which has emerged as one of the world’s most powerful open-source large language models.
China has also announced new initiatives to support developing countries, including AI talent training programs, technology sharing, and access to AI-powered early warning systems.
AI Should Empower People, Not Replace Them
China is placing particular emphasis on the practical application of artificial intelligence. Under the country’s AI Plus strategy, AI is being integrated into industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and other key sectors to improve productivity, create new jobs, and modernize existing professions.
According to the initiative’s vision, artificial intelligence should serve as a tool that enhances human capabilities rather than deepening global inequality or creating additional social risks.
