Gulftainer has announced plans to develop the Al Dhaid Multimodal Trade Corridor, a project set to become one of the UAE’s leading logistics facilities and a key trade gateway for the Gulf region. The new 150-hectare complex will have an annual handling capacity of up to 1.5 million TEU and will effectively expand the operational capabilities of Khorfakkan Port, located just 50 kilometres from the future hub.
The project is being implemented in partnership with the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority and includes the integration of Khorfakkan Port with the UAE’s national railway network, Etihad Rail. This will create an efficient transportation corridor capable of facilitating cargo flows throughout the Arabian Peninsula.
The facility will include a container terminal, empty container storage yards, and a container freight station. The infrastructure will enable the consolidation of domestic cargo, support same-day deliveries to the port, and handle transit shipments destined for Saudi Arabia and Oman.
According to Gulftainer, the new logistics hub will serve as a major driver of regional economic growth and help accelerate trade through advanced digital solutions and a streamlined single-window customs clearance system.
