China and Morocco are expanding their economic cooperation following China’s introduction of a zero-tariff policy for most African countries. One of the key upcoming events is the Morocco session of the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, which will be held in Casablanca and focus on promoting trade, investment, and industrial cooperation.
According to industry experts, the removal of tariffs will give Moroccan products broader access to the Chinese market and enhance their competitiveness. Bilateral trade between the two countries reached $10.96 billion in 2025, up from $9.04 billion a year earlier. China remains Morocco’s largest trading partner in Asia and its third-largest trading partner globally.
Cooperation is expanding beyond trade into industrial development. In Mohammed VI Tangier Tech City, several projects involving dozens of Chinese companies are already underway. Among them are facilities producing lithium-ion battery materials, which are expected to create more than 1,000 jobs.
Green development has also become a major area of cooperation. Chinese and Moroccan companies are jointly implementing projects in renewable energy, raw material processing, and seawater desalination. Experts note that the partnership is increasingly evolving toward long-term industrial and technological collaboration.
