The People’s Republic of China (PRC) is maintaining its rapid pace of development in AI and robotics. This year, the domestic production volume of humanoid robots is expected to top 100,000 units. This was announced by Gan Xiaobing, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, during a press conference dedicated to the upcoming World Artificial Intelligence Conference.

According to the official, the active development of the AI ecosystem and its expanding applications have become key drivers for the explosive growth of the robotics industry. To date, the adoption rate of AI technologies among major Chinese industrial enterprises has already exceeded 30%, boosting manufacturing modernization and accelerating the digital transformation of the industry.

An additional catalyst for growth is the National AI Investment Fund, which channels substantial volumes of public and private capital into supporting innovative projects. This funding accelerates the R&D process for new technologies, scales up production, and brings highly competitive solutions to the market.

One of the premier platforms for demonstrating these latest achievements is the World Artificial Intelligence Conference 2026, which will take place in Shanghai from July 17 to 20 under the theme: AI Partnership for a Brighter Future.”

Organizers anticipate over 1,100 exhibitors showcasing more than 3,000 exhibits. A particular focus will be placed on innovation, with over 300 high-tech products making their global debut. The WAIC program will span six core areas, including industry forums, a massive exhibition, presentations of innovative designs, startup support initiatives, and knowledge sharing among leading industry experts.

The expansion of humanoid robot production is becoming a cornerstone of China’s strategic industrial policy. Authorities anticipate that the widespread deployment of intelligent machines will boost enterprise productivity, accelerate manufacturing automation, and cement the country’s position as a global leader in AI and high tech.
