The rocket was launched on August 10 from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan Province. Liftoff took place at 8:02 p.m. Beijing time. The mission initially proceeded as planned, but an anomaly was later detected during the flight. As a result, the satellite failed to reach its designated orbit.
Representatives at the launch site said the cause of the incident is still under investigation. Specialists are analyzing telemetry data and flight conditions to determine the source of the failure.
The Zhongxing-4B satellite was intended for satellite communications. The mission was part of China’s ongoing efforts to expand and develop its independent satellite infrastructure.
The Long March-7 is part of China’s family of launch vehicles designed to place spacecraft into low Earth and other orbits. The investigation into the failure could affect future launches involving the modified version of the rocket.
