The discussions focused on permit systems, industry digitalization, legislative improvements, and measures aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Kazakh carriers in the global transport market.
International Transport Remains a Strategic Priority
During the meeting, business representatives and government officials reviewed the most pressing challenges currently facing transport companies engaged in international freight operations.
Key topics included:
- Allocation and issuance of international transport permits;
- Improvement of the regulatory framework;
- Digitalization of transport processes;
- Expansion of Kazakhstan’s transit potential;
- Modernization of transport and logistics infrastructure;
- Strengthening cooperation between government institutions and the business community.
The Ministry of Transport emphasized that the continued development of international road transport is directly linked to Kazakhstan’s ambition to strengthen its position as one of Eurasia’s leading transit hubs.
Freight Transport Market Shows Strong Growth
Official statistics confirm the positive momentum of the country’s transport sector.
According to Kazakhstan’s Bureau of National Statistics, road freight volumes increased by 15.5% during the January–April 2026 period compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, freight turnover grew by 8.2%, indicating not only higher cargo volumes but also longer transport distances and the expansion of international transport routes.
Positive trends were also recorded in the passenger transport sector:
- Passenger transport volumes increased by 8.9%;
- Passenger turnover rose by 3.5%.
Industry experts note that these figures reflect the gradual recovery of economic activity across the region and growing demand for transportation services.
Digitalization Becomes a Key Industry Priority
One of the central themes of the meeting was the digital transformation of the transport sector.
Kazakhstan continues to implement electronic services for permit issuance, data exchange between carriers and government agencies, and the automation of international transport control procedures.
Market participants believe that further digitalization will help reduce administrative burdens, improve transparency, and lower operating costs for transport companies.
These initiatives are becoming increasingly important as international trade volumes grow and transit traffic through Kazakhstan continues to expand.
Kazakhstan Reinforces Its Role as a Transit Hub
Thanks to its strategic geographic location, Kazakhstan remains a critical transport link connecting China, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Russia, and European markets.
The development of road freight transport is viewed as a key component of the country’s strategy to expand its transit capacity and strengthen its role in Eurasian supply chains.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has invested heavily in the construction of new transport corridors, highway modernization projects, logistics centers, and digital transport platforms.
The growth of international freight transport not only generates additional revenue for the transport industry but also supports the development of foreign trade, logistics services, and related infrastructure sectors.
Government and Industry Continue Joint Efforts
Following the meeting, all parties reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue and jointly addressing challenges affecting the international road transport sector.
Representatives of the transport industry highlighted the importance of regular cooperation with the Ministry of Transport to eliminate administrative barriers and improve the efficiency of international freight operations.
As cargo volumes continue to increase and Kazakhstan’s importance within international transport corridors grows, the further development of road logistics remains one of the country’s key transportation policy priorities.
