According to Ukraine’s Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, the country’s seaports processed over 40 million tons of cargo during the first months of 2026. The increase in cargo volumes comes despite ongoing attacks on port infrastructure and the challenging security situation in the Black Sea.

The ministry noted that the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor continues to play a crucial role in maintaining the country’s export capacity. The corridor enables the steady shipment of Ukrainian goods to dozens of countries worldwide, supporting both Ukraine’s economy and global supply chains.

Ports Continue Operating Under Constant Threat

Although cargo volumes continue to grow, the damage caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine’s port infrastructure remains severe.

According to the ministry, Russia has launched more than 1,500 attack drones against Ukrainian ports since the beginning of this year alone.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, 966 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged or destroyed, while more than 200 civilian vessels have also been damaged.

The attacks have resulted in significant human losses as well. A total of 257 civilians have been killed or injured in strikes targeting Ukrainian ports.

Maritime Corridor Remains a Vital Export Route

Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration, Oleksii Kuleba, described the achievement of 40 million tons of cargo throughput as the result of the joint efforts of port workers, seafarers, logistics companies, businesses, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and international partners who continue to ensure the operation of the country’s ports despite wartime conditions.

Industry experts note that the uninterrupted operation of Ukraine’s ports remains critical not only for the national economy but also for international trade. Ukrainian ports continue to export grain, metallurgical products, containerized cargo, and other commodities to markets across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.

Despite the ongoing security challenges, Ukraine’s maritime sector continues to demonstrate remarkable resilience. The further development of the Ukrainian Maritime Corridor remains one of the key factors supporting the country’s export potential and maintaining stable logistics across the Black Sea region.
