Singapore-based Nortrans Offshore has signed a two-year charter agreement with SBM Offshore for its semi-submersible floating accommodation unit Nor Spirit. The vessel will support the life extension campaign for the Saxi Batuque and Mondo floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) units operating offshore Angola.

Built in 2015 and equipped with DP3 dynamic positioning, Nor Spirit will provide offshore accommodation and logistical support for personnel involved in refurbishment and modernization activities. The project will be carried out on Block 15, where SBM Offshore operates the FPSOs under a lease and operating agreement with Esso Exploration Angola, an ExxonMobil subsidiary and the block’s operator.

Late last year, SBM Offshore extended the operating contracts for both FPSOs through 2032. The agreement includes a comprehensive life extension program involving equipment replacement, system upgrades, and other modernization works scheduled to begin in 2026.

Block 15 remains one of Angola’s most important deepwater oil-producing areas, where commercial production has been underway for more than 23 years.
