China is facing the threat of several typhoons as authorities issue a series of weather alerts. Guangxi has already received emergency funding for recovery efforts following heavy rains and flooding
According to the Chinese news agency Xinhua, authorities across China are stepping up emergency measures in response to several dangerous weather systems. The National Meteorological Center has issued warnings for typhoons, severe convective weather and heavy rainfall, while the national emergency response level for major meteorological disasters has been raised from Level IV to Level III.
Heavy rain is expected from Monday through Wednesday in parts of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan. In northeastern China, downpours are forecast in Liaoning and Jilin, with a powerful rain front accompanied by severe convection expected to move across northern and northeastern regions.
In southern China, Typhoon Nara was located approximately 260 kilometers from Beihai. Authorities expect the storm to continue moving toward the coastal areas of Guangxi and Guangdong. Meanwhile, Typhoon Gaenari has already made landfall along the coast of Fujian, while Typhoon Saudel is forecast to enter the East China Sea on Wednesday.
Amid the worsening weather, Beijing has allocated 50 million yuan to help restore damaged roads, water supply infrastructure, schools and hospitals in Guangxi.
