Singapore-based shipping company Eastern Pacific Shipping has announced its complete withdrawal from the chemical tanker transportation sector. The decision is linked to the sale of its entire fleet of chemical tankers to Ace Tankers and Womar Tankers.
The transaction is expected to be completed later this week, subject to customary closing conditions. Under the deal, ownership of 14 chemical tankers will be transferred to the new operators. The fleet consists of vessels with a deadweight ranging from 19,000 to 26,000 tonnes, including three newbuildings currently being commissioned.
At present, all tankers operate under the commercial management of the Ace Quantum Chemical Tanker pool. Following the completion of the transaction, seven vessels will remain under the pool’s management, while the remaining seven vessels, including the three newbuildings, will be managed by Womar Tankers. The vessels are also expected to be renamed in accordance with their new owners.
EPS stated that the asset sale is part of its long-term strategy aimed at portfolio optimization and concentrating capital on key growth areas. In recent years, the company has been actively investing in container ships, gas carriers, car carriers, and conventional tankers. It is also implementing one of the industry’s largest alternative-fuel newbuilding programs.
The group currently has an orderbook of more than 150 vessels across various shipping segments, reaffirming its commitment to expanding its presence in the most promising sectors of the global maritime industry.
