China’s industrial revolution is entering a new stage. In Zhejiang Province, traditional production lines are increasingly being replaced by robotic systems, automated guided vehicles, and intelligent equipment powered by 5G networks and artificial intelligence.
One of the key drivers of this transformation is China Mobile, which is helping local manufacturers adopt smart manufacturing technologies. By leveraging high-speed connectivity and advanced computing infrastructure, companies are able to automate production processes, increase productivity, and reduce operating costs.
At the heart of this modernization is China Mobile’s Yangtze River Delta Data Center. Covering nearly 19 hectares, the facility has attracted more than 3 billion yuan in investment and ranks among the largest data centers in eastern China. It currently houses 13,000 server racks with a total computing capacity of 86 MW.
The project focuses not only on performance but also on sustainability. The data center has been recognized as a national Green Computing Center, achieving a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.24. This enables annual electricity savings of approximately 34 million kWh while reducing carbon dioxide emissions by around 18,000 metric tons each year.
The expansion of 5G infrastructure and artificial intelligence has become one of the cornerstones of China’s industrial strategy. The government and the country’s leading telecommunications companies are investing heavily in industrial digitalization, viewing smart manufacturing as a key driver of future economic growth and stronger global competitiveness.
