Trimble CoPilot Adds Booking for 750 Truck Parks in 26 Countries

TRAVIS Parking Is Now Available in Trimble CoPilot

Trimble and TRAVIS Road Services have launched an integration connecting the CoPilot professional navigation platform with a European network of truck service locations.

The new feature is available to Trimble CoPilot customers across 26 European countries. Drivers can now access more than 750 registered TRAVIS parking locations while planning a journey.

CoPilot users can search for suitable sites along a planned route, near their current location or by selecting a specific location. Once a parking site has been chosen, the driver is redirected to the TRAVIS platform to check availability, review the conditions and complete the booking.

The integration officially went live on July 23, 2026. It is intended to make mandatory rest stops more predictable, reduce pressure on drivers and lower fleet operating costs.

Drivers Spend Around 45 Minutes Searching for Parking

A shortage of suitable parking remains one of the most serious problems facing European road freight.

Trimble and TRAVIS said, citing a European Commission study, that truck drivers spend an average of around 45 minutes per day searching for a safe and legal place to rest.

The search usually begins before the driver reaches the permitted driving-time limit. When the nearest site is full, the driver may have to continue to another parking area, leave the planned route or stop at a less secure location.

For carriers, this creates additional mileage, higher fuel consumption, lost working time and an increased risk of driving and rest-time violations.

The total cost associated with parking searches can reach €19,200 per truck annually. Even a partial reduction in unnecessary mileage could therefore deliver considerable savings for a large fleet.

Germany is also developing digital tools to address the problem. K2Cargo.News previously reported that the SID system began providing occupancy data for around 1,850 truck parking areas along German motorways.

Booking Could Improve Cargo Security

The integration is intended to support not only driver scheduling but also cargo security.

According to figures cited by Trimble and TRAVIS, nearly 40% of cargo thefts in Europe take place at unsecured roadside parking or rest areas. The annual cost of cargo crime to the European logistics economy is estimated at €8.2 billion.

Advance booking allows a carrier to include a known parking facility in the planned route. It reduces the likelihood that a driver will have to search for a place after dark or shortly before reaching the legal working-time limit.

Secure parking is particularly important for vehicles carrying high-value, easily resold or sensitive goods. These may include electronics, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals and retail products.

Digital planning cannot eliminate theft risk completely, but it can reduce the need to stop on road shoulders, in industrial areas or at unprotected locations.

How the Booking Process Works

Drivers plan their journeys in Trimble CoPilot and view the TRAVIS parking locations available along the route. After selecting a suitable site, they are transferred to the TRAVIS platform.

There, users can check availability, view the price and examine the conditions set by the parking operator. The booking and payment are completed within the TRAVIS system.

The TRAVIS Driver App also provides access and parking instructions in more than ten languages. This is particularly useful in international transport, where a driver may not speak the language of the transit country.

Transport companies can manage the services centrally. Instead of processing separate receipts from multiple parking operators, carriers can receive consolidated billing for transactions completed through the platform.

This can simplify internal accounting, cost control and the processing of documents required for VAT reimbursement.

TRAVIS Is Part of the Knorr-Bremse Ecosystem

TRAVIS Road Services specialises in booking, payment and management tools for truck-related road services.

In addition to parking, the platform provides access to truck washing, electric charging, tank cleaning and repair services. Its wider network includes more than 2,500 service partners in 26 European countries.

TRAVIS officially became part of the Knorr-Bremse Group in 2026. Knorr-Bremse is one of the largest suppliers of systems and components for commercial vehicles.

The integration with Trimble CoPilot expands the role of the platform by making TRAVIS services available through a navigation tool already used by drivers for routing and journey planning.

Digital Services Are Changing the Driver’s Working Day

European carriers are increasingly adopting applications that combine navigation, parking, tolls, charging, repairs and communication with fleet dispatchers.

K2Cargo.News previously reported that Italy was developing a logistics application for truck drivers that will allow them to report delays and problems across the logistics chain.

The CoPilot and TRAVIS integration represents a different approach. Instead of introducing another standalone application, it embeds parking services into an existing navigation system.

For drivers, this reduces the number of actions required during a journey. For dispatchers, it improves route predictability. For carriers, it creates an opportunity to monitor expenses and plan safer stops in advance.

The effectiveness of the solution will nevertheless depend on the actual availability of parking spaces. Digital booking makes existing infrastructure easier to access, but it does not by itself eliminate Europe’s truck parking shortage.

New parking capacity and unified booking systems will need to develop together. Only then can technology substantially reduce search times and improve security for drivers, vehicles and cargo.
